Back when I used to smoke, I loved sitting there and designing that sort of thing.

Then the smoke got stronger and my speakers kept ending up out of phase.

I agree, although my first attempt wasn't a total failure the one I keep dreaming about is sure to Make me put my bong down.

Those speakers look like a lot fun, even if you're not stoned.

There are some on the market like that now, aren't there? Duveal or something...

Hey Cal, great looking set up you have,. It’s amazing how puny those A7’s look. My first speakers were when my dad sent me up to the electrical supply wholesaler and they sold me a pair of 8” Altec thin full range speakers and some unknown super tweeters, everything run full range. I was 17 and full of bong, but the next door Master cabinet maker helped me build the boxes, no, he let me help him build them, no, he let me watch as he camfor, rabbet dadoed them out and actually let me glue and screw them together. Powered by the super powerful Radio Shack 10 watts per channel amp and separate tuner, and running a Craig floor mount 8 track powered with a power converter they sounded great. I’ve been sketching up speakers ever since, but never mustered up the ambition to actually build any thing more.

I want to build some spherical concrete orb encloshers and rock the world.

Mine are U shaped laying on it's side design running 416's with either 511's or 811's sitting on top.

I've always had trouble seeing sound.

They may sound OK, apparently it wasn't so phenomenal that other designers copied.

But you gotta admit, they are strange!

I think the Walsh tweeters were a better approach. IMHO the bass part of this thing is just plain silly as bass is pretty omnidirectional anyway. YMMV.

I heard some Walsh tweeters (and the rest) at the Dayton speaker contest last year. They were quite phenomenal. The image was quite surprising in it precision. Which I knew more about them.
